Janene Madden

Chief Executive Officer

Janene completed her training and worked as a physiotherapist in New Zealand. She then travelled to England where she worked in a variety of NHS and private sector positions, climbing the ranks to hospital manager. During her progression, she completed an MBA at Henley Management College.

Janene joined HCA Healthcare UK in 2006 as Chief Operating Officer at The Wellington Hospital and was promoted to Chief Executive Officer of The Portland Hospital in June 2009.

She is passionate about delivering service excellence and exceptional care, not just for the patient but also for the patient’s family.

Janene is also mother to three children therefore she fully understands the importance of high quality maternity, gynaecology and paediatric care, provided within a supportive environment for the whole family. Her second son and her daughter were born at The Portland Hospital.

She took over from Andrew Gore as the CEO of London Bridge Hospital in December 2016

Kathryn Hornby

Kathryn joined London Bridge Hospital in April 2017 as Deputy Chief Nursing Officer and was promoted to Chief Nursing Officer in March 2018. Before joining London Bridge Hospital, Kathryn has a 20 year nursing career with the NHS working in Cancer Care and Critical Care. Kathryn manages the nursing and many of the clinical departments across a range of specialities and is focused on achieving the highest clinical standards and patient experience across the hospital. She is dedicated to promoting best practice and creating a culture of clinical excellence and learning throughout London Bridge Hospital.

Dr. Ahmed is a renowned nephrologist with decades of clinical experience. He plays a unique role – overseeing our trademark multidisciplinary approach by ensuring clinical disciplines collaborate to deliver the highest standard of care.

Phil Harrison

Phil Harrison

Medical Clinical Governance Lead

Dr Harrison is a well-respected and prolific author and lecturer, and who is a globally renowned physician with a worldwide patient base. He is immediate past General Secretary of the British Association for the Study of the Liver (BASL) and is Chair of the NICE cirrhosis guideline development group. He has also acted as clinical advisor for NICE on drugs for viral hepatitis. He is a national opinion leader in liver disease and has appeared on the Tonight Programme on ITV, Channel 5 News and NBC Television, and contributed to national newspaper articles and The Big Issue highlighting liver diseases.

His practice offers a full range of liver services from abnormal liver functions through to viral hepatitis, Hepatitis B and C and hepatocellular carcinoma. He is a leading exponent of interventional endoscopy, particularly ERCP. He works as a member of a multidisciplinary team of liver surgeons, radiologists and oncologists bringing state-of-the-art liver medicine, surgery and liver transplantation to patients in an independent hospital setting. The London Liver Centre attracts patients from UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

Stephen joined The London Bridge Hospital in 2015, following roles as CFO at The Princess Grace Hospital, CFO at The Lister Hospital and as Finance Manager at HCA Corporate Offices. As well as his role at The London Bridge Hospital, Stephen is CFO at The Lister Hospital, another of HCA’s world-leading private hospitals. As CFO Stephen has responsibility for ensuring Finance, Patient Accounts and Procurement functions support the delivery of world class private healthcare.
